When I grow up...

I want to be the Master of Trinity College.

Oh flist, not only did we have drinks in the Master's garden, but then we were allowed to explore the Lodge proper and gaze upon the bookshelves (full of books bequeathed by Masters past) and the portraits, and lounge in his sitting room and dream of playing the piano in his music room and then, best of all, he let us into his office. So many books and desks that have been worked upon by some of the greatest minds in their fields...

I think my favourite thing was the portrait of Elizabeth I in the music room, actually. She's beautiful, and I could have gazed upon her all night long. But he threw us out eventually, as he had to go and wish the Choir luck upon their upcoming tour.

Hey, I've been watching Castle (to get me over my funk at not going to the conference dinner tonight), and it's great fun. I'm not sure it'll be hitting any of my top ten lists anytime soon, but it's great "there's nothing on tv because I don't have a tv" tv. :)

Yeah, it's not 'brilliant' TV, but it's very very fun to watch.

It's curious, but I'm pretty sure the only reason it's watchable is Nathan Fillion. He does lovable jackass so well that you can't hate him, and it takes a really good actor to do that character type justice.

(It never would have flopped because everyone in the US seems to love crime shows no matter what flavour, but it would not have been fun.)

The last episode was great. I was expecting a cliffhanger in which one of the leads was shot, but the ending they went with was much better (and annoying FBI-guy was the token shooting, woo!). Oh great, and the next episode airs just after I get back to Cambridge (and have access to fast internet). That's not going to help me get the PhD done.
